Another Contessa has come and gone but we are still reviling in the amazing talent we got to witness on Sunday night. This year’s theme was #FUTURE and the interpretations of it were phenomenal. Aveda and Moroccanoil took the stage to show two very different yet very interesting looks into our future. Aveda’s presentation was white and airy with texture and architectural elements. Moroccanoil created their own post-apocalyptic world. With Peter Gray’s direction, the looks were dark and high-fashion. The presentation incorporated dance, fashion and body art. Other artists that helped in the creation include:

Hair: Erika Fung, Robert Ham, Kevin Hughes and Sal Leonetti

Makeup & Nails: Christina Nguyen and Wendy Rorong

Choreography: Justin De Benard

The inspirational night of art continued by celebrating the best in hair, beauty and nails. Winners included six-time Canadian Hairstylist of the Year award recipient Tony Ricci of Ricci Hair Co. Nagris Khan of Tips Nail Bar won the award for Canadian Nail Artist of the Year and Pete Goupil earned the title of #ContessaFanFave. Toronto’s very own Her Majesty’s Pleasure took the award home for Salon Interior design of the Year. The most unforgettable and heartwarming moment for all those in attendance was watching Michelle Paragee receive her two awards, British Columbia Hairstylist of the Year and Canadian Colourist of the Year. During her speech, she revealed that she skipped her chemo treatment in order to create her winning collection because she knew creating would give her strength.

The Contessa 2017 awards were ones to remember and although they just happened, we are already excited to see what these artists have in store for us next year! #Contessa2017 #ContessaAwards
